Biography

Maria’s energy and passion has been a key component in her creativity since the start of her career. Her love of color blossoms from her background in fine arts and her diverse portfolio includes everything from paintings, photography, and installations to feature films, shorts, and music videos.
 
Maria’s work is highly decorated, with over 100 nomination at various award shows across the globe. Her colorist credits include the award-winning feature films Mapa, Las 13 rosas, and Alatriste, which have a collective 35 Goya Award nominations and 8 wins. She also worked as a digital artist on the notable feature Bad Education, directed by the prolific Pedro Almodovar. Maria teams regularly with prominent commercial directors, such as Bruce St. Claire and Tobias Granstöm, with her work including campaigns for Coca Cola, Jeep, Mercedes, Lexus, American Express, and other top brands. She began her career in Spain, working as Senior Colorist at Deluxe Spain, and after freelancing internationally, she led the color team at Serena and Serena ME.
 
Maria joined Carbon as Lead Colorist in 2016 and now resides in Chicago, where she continues to divide her time between her painting and her digital color work.
